RECENT PROJECTS
Alessandra Manzini
Dr. Alessandra Manzini, EUTOPIA SIF Marie Curie post-doctoral fellow at CY Cergy Paris University and CASES group at UPF, works at the intersection of radical geography, political ecology, and advanced statistical ethno-archaeology. She leads the SPIRAL project, a global and cross-cultural comparative study of spiritual landscape management practices with a particular focus on sacred groves and forest patches. Using a mixed-methods approach, SPIRAL examines how Indigenous ways of knowing and relating to forests contribute to socio-ecological resilience, biodiversity conservation, and landscape metastability. Current case studies center on eco-spiritual practices in African and Afrodiasporic contexts in a cross-cultural comparison with Asian Pacific ones, illuminating complex cosmoecologies of resistance and resilience.
